FACT: Essential Oil vs Fragrance Oil

We've been asked a lot recently what the difference is between our oils and how they're different from each other. When buying oils, it is important to know which is which.

Here's a brief breakdown of the process each oil undertakes...

Essential oil is an extraction straight from the plant by steaming. This is done using a distiller. It is the most concentrated form of oil and should not be used directly on the skin as it can cause burning, therefore it needs to be diluted.

However...

Fragrance oil is made by taking the Plant Matter and putting it into a carrier oil (e.g Olive oil, Almond oil, Apricot oil etc.). This then becomes a fragrance oil and is much less potent. The scent from the plant matter is absorbed by the carrier oil, making it safe to use directly on the skin.

We hope this helps clear up the difference. If you'd like to know more feel free to contact us.
